Baxter Barn
Farmers Cory and Missy Huskinson are now carrying my coops at Baxter Barn, in Fall City, WA. Baxter Barn is a history-rich farm where you can experience conservation, sustainability and community. In addition to selling 50-100 chicks a week, they sell farm fresh eggs for $5 dozen and do farm visits by appointment for $5/person.
New Cedar Garden Sheds - $795

This Cedar shed measures 5x5 on the ground and stands 7 feet tall. The exterior is all red cedar and the interior has hooks for your shovels and a couple of shelves. I can install it on either a gravel or plywood floor. Door is not shown in this picture. Roof is galvanized metal, and I can add my custom mini-gutters as well. This design is also customizeable for a playhouse or a coop!

The coop version (called the Portage Bay Coop), has a 5x12 footprint standard, three roosts, sufficient nexting boxes for up to 8 hens and is encased in my heaviest gauge 1/2" mesh. We can either install subterreanean skirt around the perimeter, or mesh the entire floor. $995. $100 local delivery. Anti-tunneling skirt or mesh floor by quote.

Playhouse
8x8 Playhouse with metal roof, cedar shingles and durch door: $4,000. Options include shutters, glass windows and planters boxes.
Chicken Coop Tours
There are two chicken coop tours going on in the Seattle area this month. Seattle Tilth's "Chicken Coop and Urban Farm Tour" (www.seattletilth.org) is Saturday July 9th, and Bainbridge Island's "Tour De Coop" on 7/16 (www.facebook.com/pages/Bainbridge-Island-Tour-de-Coop/206670489365568).
Portage Bay Grange (www.portagebaygrange.com), has several of my coops on display and is a hub for the Seattle Tilth tour. One of my coops at a home on Bainbridge is on the Bainbridge Tour, as well as on display at Bay Hay and Feed. Enjoy!

Birds-Eye View
These water fowl will have a nice view of the sound and olympic mountains in Richmond Beach. The end of their 4x16 run has a little segment of metal roofing to escape the elements.
Don't leave town for you feed!
Portage Bay Grange is a new feed and mercantile store meeting the needs of the urban agriculturalist. They are located at 4110 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle WA 98105 in the U-District (look for the chicken coop in the driveway). My knowledgeable colleague Kevin is there Monday-Saturday 10-6 to show you his line of organic mash, pellet and crumble feed, as well as custom scratches, grit, oyster shell, whole grains, straw and white shavings. Self-service is available after hours. He will have chicks later this month, and plants in March. SUPPORT THIS NEW LOCAL BUSINESS!
Today's project. . .
Today I was building this custom run attached to one of my Island Coops in Seattle's Laurelhurst neighborhood. We built the ceiling on the lawn, then lifted it up onto the posts.
External Nesting Boxes - A colorful add-on to your island coop
Show is a single box (good for up to 4 hens, honest) and a double (good for up to 8 hens, trust me).
